My coworker Sean moved to Scottsdale this weekend so I went to check out his new place and then go to dinner so we could talk about work and his new job- which is the job I have been doing most of the year and he is now taking over. His new apartment is so much like my old loft it brought back a ton of memories and made me a little sad. I miss that loft! He has a spiral staircase to the second floor which is much cooler than my stairs, but my place made up for it with the patio. I am a little jealous of his place, but I could never live here- I would melt. And have skin cancer. He lives in a development called Ninety Degrees, but it was still about One Hundred Degrees at 8pm when I went to get him.
After I checked out his place, we went to a place recommended to him by our coworker Tony last time he was in town. The place was called La Grande Orange and it is a grocery and pizzeria in Phoenix. The pizza was fantastic! So incredibly good and frankly the best thin crust pizza I have eaten in my life. You must go there. Now. Get the corn pizza.
Other than pizza and false apartment complex names, Scottsdale has been pretty ordinary. Today I felt flustered from the minute I walked into the office, it was the first time I had been in the new iCrossing office space and had back to back meetings all morning. I hate those days where you just don't feel like you ever had things under control before they get out of control, but I lived and enjoyed a beer with dinner as a reward. Today I realized I will soon be transitioning off the project I've been on since February and I am going to miss the team in Arizona! As the new kid, it took me a long time to get the different people on the team and their personalities. I was sitting at my desk today and the development team was talking about the test criteria for a pagination capability they were working on and someone made a developer joke- and I laughed. I laughed at a development joke, this is a success story for the product development team.
Last night,I went to dinner last night with my old high school friend Amy after spending the afternoon at the pool. I loved talking to her and reconnecting and talking about life with someone that I don't see that often. This is the forth time I've been down here this year, but the first time I have been down here this year and had a chance to see her. It seems like so much changes and at the same time nothing at all changes.
Tomorrow is only Tuesday- more fun to come!
