My original post is below from last Saturday, but a lot has changed since I wrote that post. I built the original page with iWeb and my MoblieMe account. iWeb was a bit clunky with the blog format, but it was doable. The bigger problem was the URL file structure. If I changed my CNAME record to reflect the change, I kept getting extremely long URL strings when navigating the actual page. My other option was to simply forward the domain, but them kaylanmalm.com was the display URL for every page- not very helpful for Google Analytics. I purchased this domain through GoDaddy, and based on their support system, I don't think I would do it again (even though it was on SALE!).
So, on the advice of some very smart coworkers and friends, I decided to give it up and find a new place for my blog to live. The options I evaluated were WordPress, Tumblr, and Posterous. After reading, investigating, and frankly just messing around, I chose Posterous. Major reason: I am afraid if I use something too robust, I will eventually stop using it at all. It made me nervous setting it up because I couldn't customize it as much as I wanted without writing my own HTML which is just a bad idea, but I got over it and within a tenth of the time it was up, working, and updating without problem. Might as well give it a go and see how I like it.
Welcome to kaylanmalm.com version 2.0!

Two days into the year and I have already achieved one of my New Year’s Resolutions, launching my website. I’m opinionated, rarely correct, but as the web evolves I feel the need to get engaged and join the conversation in a more comprehensive format than social networking sites allow me to do. I have created an archive containing some of my previous work as well as some blogs I crafted before getting around to creating and launching this site. I welcome everyone to comment, leave their opinions, destroy my arguments, or simply agree.
